Slovenia has a very good reason to be proud of the Coast Day. Namely, that day is celebrated throughout the Mediterranean on September 25, the date on which Slovenia ratified the ICZM Protocol as the first Mediterranean country to do so. Every year they mark the day with various activities, and in 2010 they hosted the central regional celebration. For this year they also have ambitious plans, covering an entire week. For example, on September 17 cleaning will be organised of numerous beaches and stretches of coast, and on September 24 divers will clean the seabed of the Portoroz beach. Apart from the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, numerous organisations and NGOs take part in these activities. We wish our Slovenian friends successful outcome of their efforts with numerous participants and good weather.
